Towson, Maryland: Major Victory in the Peoples' War Against the Government Health Care Takeover

Congratulations Maryland, You Did It!!!

Senator Ben Cardin came to Towson University to conduct a Town Hall meeting and YOU responded. There is no denying the obvious truth, Americans who value having choice in health care and the ability to make life/death decisions privately with their doctors came out in huge numbers far outnumbering what support local labor unions and the Democratic party could gin up to tell Senator Cardin an emphatic “NO” to socialized government run health care.

No denying the obvious truth, the Baltimore Sun, one of the most conspicuously left-wing biased newspapers in the country ran a headline that said it all, Opponents dominate Cardin town hall meeting on health care; sub-headline, Senator is heckled throughout Towson session

For the reader’s reference, here’s the link to the Sun’s article:

While it was certainly a huge local story, your actions made national news receiving substantial coverage last night and through the day’s news cycles on Fox News who sent two reporters to cover the event.

This is big! Few states are considered more safely Democratic or “bluer” than Maryland. While there used to be some balance in Maryland’s House of Representatives delegation, former governor Paris Glendenning, one of the most corrupt, detestable, radical Democrats who’d be so compatible with the Obama approach, utilized the 2000 census to butcher the Maryland map to create safe districts throughout the state where the first and second districts were once predictably Republican, they’ve been tossed left. Though the first turning Democrat had more to do with the anti-Republican climate of 2008. Central Maryland, essentially the territories within the two Beltways and the corridor in between is about as faithful Democrat as any place in the country. Still, Maryland has its limits. Though never followed up on, had the 1994 election for governor been better scrutinized, voter irregularities typical of tactics employed in urban machine politics could have produced the numbers in west Baltimore that gave Glendenning his winning edge over Republican challenger, Ellen Sauerbrey. After eight years of increasing taxes, more state regulation, and visible corruption, not even the Kennedy name could keep the unthinkable from happening in 2002, the election of Baltimore County Republican, Bob Ehrlich as governor. Kathleen Kennedy Townshend’s loss was an expected and huge black eye to the state’s Democratic Party, but the voters were angry. That election also brought Michael Steele into the national spotlight as Lieutenant Governor. Sadly, the tides turned, and the ultimate political smart-ass, Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley ousted Ehrlich in 2006 taking the state from having a surplus to the biggest tax increase in Maryland history in just over six months.

Marylanders might be traditionally Democrat, but when that long fuse ignites, watch out!

Such was the scene last night at Towson University. Given the threat the Obama government seizure of medical care represents to seniors where part of the ability to initiate Federal health care for all is gutting Medicare, there perhaps could not be a more treacherous community in the region than Towson, where communities like Ruxton, Riderwood, Lutherville, Mount Washington, and Pikesville have large elderly populations and two major hospitals which cater to that population border the Towson University campus, Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) and St. Joseph’s Hospital. The elderly came out in huge numbers despite the stifling 90 degree plus heat to add their presence to the debate if not able to get into the assembly room itself.

From the Sun article, we salute Anne Sunderland of Timonium who works at an assisted living facility whose sign reported read, “Obama Lies, Seniors Die.” Right on, Anne!!! God bless you!!!

Timing of this event couldn’t be better as only yesterday Representatives Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi wrote their hateful thrashing of opponents who’d dare challenge their government takeover of health care not only suggesting that they were pawns of the health insurance industry but also accusing them of being “un-American” for their tactics.

Remember how the slightest suggestion that it would be good for the American population to unite around the President in the war on terror during the Bush/Cheney Administration had the left wing screaming of being accused of being unpatriotic when President Bush and Vice President Chaney did nothing of the kind. One of Hilary Clinton’s loudest, shrillest outbursts was on this matter. Let’s be clear, the previous administration was quite tolerant of descent and there was nothing remotely similar to the fascist flag@whitehouse.gov designed to have citizens report administration critics for attention.

Intimidation will not work. Surely, the more the Democratic leaders see support unraveling, their rhetoric in the media will get more overblown and accusatory, and you can bet their goon squads of union activists particularly from SEIU, perhaps the most out of control union in operation today, and activist groups like ACORN will be even more confrontational and abusive at public gatherings.

Moderate Democrats might get the message, but are there enough of them. Know that they will take tremendous pressure from their party leadership to tow the party line, but it should be clear for Democratic representatives particularly in red states’ red territories, their tenure in Washington could be over in the next election if they don’t heed the will of the people they represent.

The magic number unbelievably could be just fifty with Vice President Biden casting the deciding vote if the Senate Democrats attempt to use the budget reconciliation process which only requires a simple majority, no chance for honest debate, to rush through the bill. Given the Democrats essentially have a ten seat majority that could be a relatively easy task unless citizens like us put the fear of God into the scoundrels who would dare thwart the will of the people and destroy our health care system?

Last night was a triumphant night in Towson. Tomorrow night, Wednesday, Ben Cardin holds a forum in Hagerstown, true Republican territory. A huge turnout with the same attitude of the Towson patriots would be another huge victory and being close to DC, the national press could be there, so if it’s possible, take a cue, BE THERE!!!
