One American Burns a Book; Thousands of Muslims Riot and Kill

Muslims Kill and Riot in Response to Florida Pastor who Burned a Koran

WARNING: WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ COULD BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR LIFE IN THE PRESENCE OF ARMED RADICAL MUSLIMS AND COULD RESULT IN YOU BEING CHARGED A BIGOT, A FUNDAMENTALIST EXTREMIST, OR ULTRA RIGHT WING HATER SIMPLY FOR CONSIDERING.

How would an American react even if steeped in extreme Fundamentalist Christianity or true followers of the most hateful ultra-right talk show flamethrowers like Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, or Alex Jones if there were a news report showing a small Islamic congregation burning Bibles?

Don’t Blame Extreme, Very Extreme Christian Fundamentalists – Blame Islam.

For a little bit of context consider this. While reading this remember an "artist" presented a work called "Piss Christ" in 1987. the work of photographer, Andres Seranno, was of a plastic crucifix submerged in a glass container of the artist's urine. His "art" won the Southeastern Center of Contemporary Art's "Award in Visual Arts" funded by US taxpayers through the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA.)  The center is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

This horrible expression certainly ignited plenty of debate, but in few instances made the national news. No riots resulted. Nobody was beaten up or killed. The most violent reaction was people calling talk shows in sheer disgust. Somehow, "Piss Christ" is every bit as bad or even worse than the notion of a Koran being burned in protest. Shall we come up with more examples of Christ images being defiled, Synagogues vandalized or destroyed, or American flags burned?

Do Moslems have some dispensation allowing them to kill, injure, and destroy when something hurts their feelings concerning their faith?

For those who don’t think there’s a serious problem endemic in Muslim Society, how Muslims are responding to the act of a extreme radical fundamentalist preacher in Florida, proves otherwise among thousands of Afghan Muslims who’ve resorted to murder and violence in response to behavior which regardless how detestable is legal expression of protest and free speech in our society. Given the hundreds, well truthfully thousands of instances where anti-Western mobs have desecrated Bibles, burned American flags, and destroyed just about anything they can find that represents Judaism, and the typical reaction in the west is little more than verbal outrage, we can surely see how on a comparative basis our culture is far more civilized and moral than theirs. There was also the case of the Danish cartoonist who issued a small number of cartoons, which would have been just run of the mill political cartoons if targeted against any party besides Muslims that created riots through out the West in Muslim communities. The Media and politicians got on their high horses condemning these cartoons while had the cartoons been directed at Christians or politicians, it would have just been routine. The Islamic press is full of out rightly hateful, racist and bigoted cartoons directed at Jews, Christians and Western leaders. That a cartoon of a pregnant Condoleezza Rice carrying a monkey as a fetus drew nothing other than ho-hums in our culture.

There will be attempts to equate the Florida church with being a Christian version of the Taliban or perhaps to associate them in a broader context that would include the infamous Westboro Baptist Church. That would not be a fair assessment either. The Westboro Baptist Church is clearly a bastardization of the Church. It’s a hate group which willfully inflicts pain on suffering citizens for who they are not what they believe. That they hate homosexuals and taunt grieving families puts them in the rarest form of extremism found in the United States except for Moslem Jihadists – as in the murder of a Military Recruiter and the Fort Hood Massacre. The Westboro freaks are universally condemned in society.

The small Florida church run by Pastor Terry Jones is called the Dove World Outreach Center. Anti-Islamic sermons are commonplace for a church with a congregation of approximately fifty families. Talk show demagogue, Glenn Beck, similarly has been attempting to demonstrate that Islam is the evil converse of Christianity and the warnings of the Book of Revelation and depiction of the anti-Christ and final struggle is reversed in Islam as though the 12th Iman is really the anti-Christ. There are some rather extreme anti-Islamic notions among the ultra right wing and extreme fundamentalists. But unlike the psychotic Beck who has thousands of viewers, Jones only represents are very small fringe group. How is he any more extreme than perhaps Jeremiah Wright or Louis Farrakhan? Do they get a “mulligan” because they attack traditional American religion?

There was one horrible case of non-Islamic terror in the United States, the Oklahoma City bombings conducted by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. In an attempt to relativize Islamic terrorism, the Liberal establishment and their news media cohorts attempt to argue that this, the second worst episode of terrorism on American soil, were Christians after all. Maybe they had some contact with the Christian Church but their hateful acts were not justified as an expression of their faith. They expressed nothing like “Allah Akbar” – there were no expressions of in the name of God or Jesus. These were two guys totally out of sorts with the Christian religion. They represent no movement – not even that expressed by the most extreme talk show barkers like Alex Jones.

Again we do not agree with the behavior of the Florida Church; however, it is not a matter of bigotry taking issue with another religion. Part of freedom of religion is the freedom to challenge religious doctrine whether that of the majority of Americans or views of smaller minorities or even cults. The open discussion of religion, examining various religions’ holy texts, and what cultural practices evolve out of those religions is all valid expression of speech and intellectual pursuit.

As such, there is nothing wrong with being critical of Islam. In fact, there is nothing wrong with warning others that maybe this is a form of belief others should be encouraged to view very carefully.

The truth is many of the freedoms Americans hold dear are explicitly forbidden in the text of The Koran. The Koran mandates in detail how a person should worship, what a person should eat and wear. Islam has very specific language on how believers must manage their financial affairs. Rules are established for just about every facet of life. Search through the Koran and see how often the word “punish” is used, for instance.

We hear it said that Islam is a religion of peace. Oh really?

The Koran gets darker and more punitive the further along one reads the text. Western intellectuals again try to sort to relativism. Well, yes the Koran has contradictions by so do the Old and New Testaments. The books of the Bible reflect the holy inspiration of numerous figures, but the Koran is the work of one man, Mohammed. Islamic teaching speaks of subjugation, that what contradictions in the text are resolved by that which is written later in the text. Whatever text is newer is considered correct.

Constitutional application: Americans cannot prohibit others from practicing the religion of Islam. No one can be prohibited from any of the benefits enjoyed by others because one is a member of the Muslim faith. Muslims are free to openly express and practice their religion. They are likewise responsible for their own behavior and enjoy no special treatment, accommodation nor are they exempt from anything any other citizen is responsible for doing as a privilege of their faith.

Non-Muslims are free to criticize the Koran and what is written in it without reservation. If in fact a critical perspective directed toward other beliefs are somehow not directed toward Islam, that’s not responsible.

Anti-Islamic bigotry is not that one things the Islamic teaching are abhorrent, but the restriction of a person’s pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness, the denial of one’s civil rights, singling out and subjecting Muslims to special treatment without clearly defined just cause is not tolerated.

How do Americans react when we see images of Jesus desecrated or the American flag burned? If there were a huge demonstration in Iran, for instance, where protesters burned the American flag, hung Jews and Christians in effigy, and attacked other things we hold sacred how do we respond?

Americans don’t target Islamic facilities and organize load and angry protests in front of their establishments. We don’t hear cries of “Kill the infidel Muslims.” We might hear some talk show hosts speak angrily of such Islamic protests. Some of their activity might make the news, but if it is it is so sugarcoated.

We accept that even the most vile and hurtful forms of protest are permissible. Laws to prohibit burning the American flag seldom go anywhere. To the horror of most Americans the Supreme Court even supported 9-1 the right of the cursed Westboro creeps to engage in their hateful conduct.

While most of us would seriously disagree with burning the Koran or fear the consequences, doing so is an absolutely legitimate form of protest, and if folks want to release some anger based on the waves of hatred, the constant ridicule of our society, the thousands of people killed by terrorists, the thought of Americans being subjected to cruel murder while Islamic beasts shout “Allah Akbar, that’s a fundamental American right.

Through out history, there have been thousands of corrupt governments. There have been plenty of hateful political ideologies be it communism, fascism, or other forms of totalitarianism, or oppressive theocracies. Of the many religions that have surfaced through out history, is it likely that there are some absolutely abhorrent religions?

We allow Americans to profess communism, but no one goes nuts when people criticize communism. Why do the elites go so nuts when people criticize Islam?

Some times, the answer is quite simple. We’re right. They’re wrong. The Florida Preacher isn’t responsible for the bloody protests but if we look at the behavior of recent protests in Wisconsin, we can see that the angry mob can surface in this country in response to things some Americans don’t like – so we’re not immune.

The action of the Florida’s Terry Jones and his congregants is being pushed way out of proportion. Let us speak out against their over reaction, but defend their right to be idiots. What’s really at issue is the extremism present in the Islamic world where people are murdered, beheaded and beaten and property destroyed on a wide scale basis whenever the right explosive incident occurs that offends some aspect of their mean-spirited sense of religion.

Let’s be honest, there is something fundamentally wrong with Islam. Islam is the uniting ideology behind the most dangerous and destructive forces active in the world today. More innocent people are being killed in the name of Allah than for any other philosophy, religion, political system, or way of life anywhere else in the war.
We must stop the “hush-hush – we can’t criticize Islam” and start asking some very tough questions. If the Islamic faith is one of peace, somebody needs to step forward and prove it – show definitely what the real truth of Islam is and why that interpretation is truly the correct application of Islamic doctrine.

It’s very difficult of speaking of doing what could be very good things like spreading the message of Jesus Christ, the teachings of Buddha, the Wisdom of Moses, the common sense of Confucius in the Islamic world where simply practicing Islam the wrong way can result in harsh punishment and daring to convert to another religion in countries the United States supports can result in death.

When one considers the wisdom of almost every single religion in the world and compares it to Islam, Christians, Buddhists, Jews, Confucians, and others don’t need to change their beliefs to accommodate Islam, those who suffer from Islamic oppression should be set free and these other great faiths could be just the ticket. Most belief systems promote the beauty of life. Islam glorifies death and martyrdom.

Outside of Islam, where are there such things as “honor killings.”

When it comes to choosing sides who is more guilty Terry Jones and crew or the rioting murderous Muslims, if forced to chose one or another, we chose against the Muslims.

We rest our case. Pass the matches.

Political Correctness Run Amok (AGAIN)

Negro Mountain: from Deep Creek Lake, MD to Casselman River, PA

The politically correct crowd is at it again with their faux outrage and moral indignation, a mountain's name in Western Maryland is stirring an uproar among the "we know better" crowd from the urban areas in Central Maryland where they're making Western Maryland's business and their history their business to revise because they find the use of "negro" demeaning.  To mess with this, would be to destroy a cultural monument to a unique slice of African American history where a black soldier fighting in the French-Indian war heroically fought to save several white soldiers and the mountain was named to honor him. A black scout known as Nemesis gave his life defending Colonel Thomas Cresap in the 1756 battle.

REFERENCE ARTICLE: http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bs-md-renaming-mountains-20110220,0,6561861,full.story

Not only do nine Maryland legislators seek to change the name of this historic mountain, they also seek to change the name of Polish mountain in Allegheny county as well. It's Polish mountain not POLLOCK mountain, you dumb asses!!!! Pennsylvania has tried unsuccessfully to rename Negro Mountain in its state legislature.

It is so typical of the politically correct left wing elitists to try to sanitize history to make the stories tell the moral truths in accordance with their dogmatic orthodoxy. How often do they attempt to change cold hard facts with their idiotic name games as in denying the truthful problem involving the presence of illegal aliens in our country and trying to whitewash the whole issue by calling them, undocumented workers, citizens, or residents. BALONEY!!!

There are far greater problems than their attempt to rewrite history to fit their narrow-minded revisionist perspective but the more time they spend on frivolous issues, the less time is left to do truly wicked things like raising taxes, further rewarding public employees, and mandating insanity in public school curriculum.

Let's get these guys out of office. They're fools.

Hold on to Your Squirt Guns: There's Trouble in Paradise

Behold the evil squirt gun -- according to island legend, it holds strange evil powers that no child shall touch.

Consider this pending legislation in Hawaii:

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 709, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
Ҥ709- Sale of toy guns to minors prohibited. (1) It shall be unlawful to sell, attempt to sell, or offer for sale a toy gun to a minor under eighteen years of age; provided that it shall be an affirmative defense to any prosecution that the:
(a) Purchaser falsely represented the purchaser‘s age by producing a driver’s license bearing a photograph of the licensee, a state identification card, or similar card purporting to be a valid identification card indicating that the purchaser was eighteen years of age or older;
(b) Appearance of the purchaser was such that an ordinary prudent person would believe the purchaser to be eighteen years of age or older; and
(c) Sale was made in good faith relying upon the indicators of age in paragraphs (a) and (b).
(2) Any person who violates this section shall be subject to a fine of not more than $2,000, imprisonment of not more than ninety days, or both.”
SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date.

So it’s come to this, the elite Nanny State is making its application of political correctness such an exercise in pure behavioral fascism, they seek to outlaw toys guns subjecting those who violate the law to fines of $2,000 or up to 90 days (as in THREE months) in jail. For starters, do not Hawaiian Police, Prosecutors, and Courts have better things to do with their time?
Attempting to get to the underlying psychology of this nonsense is fascinating. Are they so frustrated that they cannot get to the real deal, real guns for adults because of a dirty little thing called the 2nd amendment? Their obsession with guns as being some kind of evil fetish is extreme neurosis at best and seems at least intellectually psychotic.
Isn’t it funny that violent youths was not perceived as a major social problems when toy guns including cap guns were staples in every little boy’s toy chest. Of course these days why do kids need toy guns when they can wipe out entire planets or even galaxies in video games.

As it stands right now, this measure is only a proposal, but that something so totally absurd could even surface in the halls of the Hawaiian legislature is insane enough. That elected officials have such casual indifference to setting meaningful priorities for their agenda and would even spend one moment of time on such nonsense shows ideological extremism and gross incompetence.
Let’s hope that our tropical paradise state is fully aware of the insanity that grips their legislature and that this insanity will be tossed out to the obscurity it deserves. Voters should take note of any and all officials supporting this measure and respond accordingly when the next election is held. This kind of absurd nonsense, Nanny state extremism, insane intrusion into private affairs, and total contempt for limited government and individual liberty, couldn’t be more obvious and must be countered with full force.

Rush Makes Fun of Chinese Dictator -- Causes Offense -- Apologies Demanded

Rush Limbaugh mimicked Chinese President Hu Jintao mocking his speech and mannerism. This is what Rush does. His humor his hard hitting and no target is safe. Naturally, the politically correct police could not stand still. His taunts were certainly racist. California state Sen. Leland Yee, a Democrat from San Francisco, sprung into action demanding an apology. We've seen this a million times before. She's working to organize boycotts of Domino's Pizza, ProFlowers, and Sleep Train, Limbaugh radio program sponsors. Naturally, the normal indictments flow -- as in Limbaugh is inciting hatred against Asians,  the words "intolerant" and "insensitive" flow like a mighty river.

Leland Yee is another dime-a-dozen idiot Liberal who cannot resist employing the race card. We must live in a sanitized world where no one can say anything that might be deemed offensive unless its the officers of the elites laying it on their critics and those whose values stand in opposition to theirs

Apologies don't mean anything anymore and Rush Limbaugh would be a fool to capitulate. We are so used to the game in politics and the media where somebody says something someone in the mainstream takes the wrong way and DEMANDS an apology.  The very notion of demanding an apology is stupid.

If a person says what he or she believes in apologizing for such means nothing unless one changes his or her point of view, and if one is true to his or her convictions, why should one even consider doing so? Therefore, the truth is, those demanding an apology are playing the roll of the thought police acting as prosecutor, judge, and jury over conduct or words they abhor often charging foes guilty of racism, sexism, homophobia, or hate speech.

Some swallow the bait. Nobody wants such damning labels associated with his or her reputations. The result, how many times have we heard this idiot nonsense:

"I am so sorry IF I OFFENDED ANYONE...."   What crap, whether sincere or not, someone states being offended and demands redress.

Isn't it high time that those who are tried and convicted in the court of politically correct elites to turn up the heat and say something like, "Screw you if you can't take a joke. I have no use for cry babies and finger pointers."

Rush Limbaugh might be just the guy to do it. Let's hope so.

CNN Apologizes for Reporter's Use of "Crosshairs" -- GOOD GRIEF

Can you believe this?

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/01/18/cnn_apologizes_for_guest_using_term_crosshairs.html

"Before we go to break, I want to make a quick point. We were having a discussion about the Chicago mayoral race. My friend Andy Shaw used the term 'in the crosshairs' in talking about the candidates. We're trying, we're trying to get away from that language. Andy is a good friend, he's covered politics for a long time, but we're trying to get away from that kind of language."

Respected News Analyst Juan Williams Fired from NPR for Honest Aside about Muslim Fears

This date, October 21, 2010 marks a very dark day in journalism and free expression where political correctness and left wing elitist ideology exercised its clout while at the same time pandering to a radical identity politics institution. The result reveals that tax supported media is far from as “public” as perhaps the population should expect.

The background is as follows, National Public Radio, journalist and Fox News contributor, Juan Williams, appeared on the O’Reilly Factor giving his insights into the flap which occurred on the ABC mid-day program, “The View,” where on Friday Bill O’Reilly appeared as a guest promoting his book, Pinheads and Patriots. The subject of discussion turned to the Ground Zero mosque in lower Manhattan. O’Reilly was attempting to establish that part of the public’s difficulty with Barack Obama is that he simply cannot identify with public furor over a mosque in the shadows of where the World Trade Center towers stood. When O’Reilly pointed out that Americans were killed by Muslims on 9/11/01, View panelists, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar stormed out in anger setting off a media explosion over the event.

Juan Williams, a liberal proponent, discussed his perception on civil rights and addressing issues of prejudicial conduct indicating that O’Reilly should have qualified his comments speaking too broadly about Islam as if all Muslims were invoked in what happened on 9/11. Williams went on to talk about how perceptions are tricky things pointing out that if he were on an airliner and saw a couple passengers dressed in Arab garb, he might feel uneasy.

For his contrition, not only was he fired by NPR, but his dismissal was handled over the telephone. He was not even given the dignity for a face to face reckoning.

Here are Williams’ words:

I mean, look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country, but when I get on a plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they're identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous,"

Shame on Williams for being contrite and admitting his feelings.

In defending NPR’s actions, their statement on the matter argued,

"Juan has been a valuable contributor to NPR and public radio for many years and we did not make this decision lightly or without regret. However, his remarks on 'The O'Reilly Factor' this past Monday were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR,"

While NPR has no problem enforcing its extreme political correct agenda, it is also noteworthy that CAIR, the Council for American-Islamic Relations demanded NPR take action against Williams. Surely, cow towing to agenda driven identity politics special interests is nothing new for members of the media elites.

How shameful it is that there is no room for debate or diversity of points of view at NPR. Given that the organization is in part publicly funded, its programming and editorial policies should promote diverse points of view but unquestionably NPR is aligned with the radical forces of the far left. Williams is what most would consider at very least a mainstream liberal, but in today’s world of Obama Socialism, identity politics, and political correctness, a person speaking to the difficulty of dealing with prejudices should be slammed for being nothing more terrible than honest.

One can’t help but wonder is it coincidental that just yesterday George Soros issued a press release that he was contributing a huge sum of money to Media Matters, his puppet group to harass those entities that provide diverse views in the media but in this case specifically, Fox News, and their pseudo-libertarian extremist demagogue, Glenn Beck.

NPR’s stance demands action. This kind of radical intolerance and dogmatic approach to editorial policy is not suitable for an organization supposed to act in good faith to maintain the public trust. On top of everything else, NPR’s CEO, Vivian Schiller stated, “Williams views should stay between himself and his psychiatrist.” WHOA, to not believe in NPR’s orthodoxy makes one in need of clinical mental care!?!? OUTRAGEOUS!!!

NPR must come up with an action plan to develop more diverse programming providing for representing the full range of mainstream American politics and do so without giving the appearance of favoring or promoting one point of view over the other.

While the notion of “The Fairness Doctrine” is abhorrent for commercial radio where the market drives content, NPR as NATIONAL PUBLIC radio, must reflect such standards.

While this blogger does not agree with most of Juan Williams’ political positions, there is no arguing this is a man of high integrity who serves to open discussion and analyze positions refusing to function as an ideological drone for one political faction over another. This kind of professionalism sets a high standard for all opinion driven commentators and serves as the exact kind of roll model that demonstrates fear mongers like Glenn Beck have no place in the media; however, Beck’s removal should not be mandated by any kind of censorship or the attempts of someone like George Soros trying to buy a solution.

All those of us who are outraged by what happened to Juan Williams should speak out about media abuses regardless of where they occur. Those who exploit the media to stifle open discussion or to perpetuate fear must be challenged.

Keep abreast of how this issue takes on life in the days ahead. Loud public outcries against NPR are essential to bring about making public radio a voice or all the people not just the Ivory Tower elites who have appointed themselves as our moral guardians and decide what they think we should hear making sure our viewpoints could never be corrupted by those who don’t tow the party line even if done so in such a small departure as what Juan Williams view represents.

Today is a very dark day for journalism and public radio. We cannot let such injustice go unchallenged.

ENOUGH ALREADY

I appreciate NASCAR's push for diversity. It's a great sport that everyone should be able to enjoy both as fans and participants.  If Danica Patrick catches fire and has a successful career, what a boost to the sport that would be.  At some point, there will be an up and coming African-American who will be a fine competitor. These are good things and NASCAR working to advocate such vital growth is a nobel and necessary enterprise.

What is never acceptable is pandering and patronizing. Clearly, there was an annoying example of that with the singing of the National Anthem. The singer, an African-American female, peformed horribly. She could not handle the demands of the song, looked awkward performing, and hot-dogged parts of the song at the end, a practice among pop singers who sing the "Star Spangled Banner" before sports events that is most annoying and disrespectful.

Enlisting singers like this one are bound to be greated with cynicism -- as in "Why did they chose her?" or worse, "Token!"

This is no way to accomplish what the sport needs to accomplish. There are plenty of performers who are audience appropriate available. Tonight's performance stunk of pandering.

Muslim Holidays -- School Closed! COME ON NOW!!!

Where else but Cambridge Massachusetts, home of Harvard University, would come up with something so TOTALLY unnecessary. Starting next year, Cambridge public schools will close for Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan. What next days off for Rastafarians?

Okay, the ACLU will have a field day celebrating this and brow-beating people like me who see the United States as primarily a Judeo-Christian culture -- we are what we are and shouldn't be ashamed of it.

The current among the left-wing elite is over flowing with an apologetic outlook toward Islam as if our culture has brutally oppressed theirs?

Hardly, take a look at how the Soviet Union messed with them during the Cold War.

These are the same elites who find the smallest little bit of behavior to be sexist if committed by "normal" Americans but keep their yaps shut about the injusitices against women -- perhaps bordering on genocide against females and non-believers.

We don't need to encourage a "religion" that cloaks such behavior. The so-called moderate Muslims silence speaks volumns. Surely, they can't all be afraid of getting killed by radical Islamic hit men.

Here are more details on what's going on in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

World Panic Over 50 Member Church in Florida

Book burning is one of the world's ugliest displays of contempt. Immediately, it stirs up imagery of Nazi Germany and Mao Tse Tung's brutal "cultural" revolution. It also brings to mind radical Islam whose members never miss an excuse to torch anything associated with Western Culture. It's the kind of behavior that truly chills sensitive, freedom loving people to the bone. Of course, it is allowed by the first amendment a legitimate expression of free speech and political freedom in the USA. When John Lennon made his flip comment about Jesus in 1966, many southern churches burned Beatles records.

A small Gainsville, Florida church of only fifty members led by Rev. Terry Jones intends to burn copies of the Koran on Saturday to show their contempt for Radical Islam on the 9th anniversary of the Islamic Extremists' attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia plus the loss of Flight 93 in rural Pennsylvania.

The issue became world news earlier in the weak when General David Patreus urged the church not to go ahead with their plans fearing it would stir up angry Muslims who might cause harm for his troops in Afghanistan. After that, it quickly became a world wide media frenzy. Within days, world leaders and American figures from Barack Obama to Sarah Palin pleaded with the Florida church to change their plans. The news media unleashed a tsunami of extreme moralizing at what is seen as pure bigotry at its most raw form.

Enough already!!!  Do we not have a sense of perspective any longer?

This represents the action of perhaps just 50 people from a nation of over 300,000,000. The percentage of the population is so small Microsoft Excel will not even compute the percentage.

The radical left, the anti-American forces around the world, and radical Islam will milk this event for all its worth with sweeping generalizations as if it represents all Americans or a wide cross section of our population. There are factions within Islam around the world who never miss a chance for blowing up stuff, lighting things on fire, and gathering huges crowds shouting "death to America."  The same thing we're so upset about within the United States, a country that allows diverse points of view no matter how onerous, occurs in large Islamic populations with certainly far more than 50 people involved quite frequently. All they need is some excuse where some one in the west supposedly insulted Islam, and kaboom. How many cities faced riots over a Danish cartoonist's rather mild-mannered taunts of radical Islam which were rather mild compared to the depiction of Jesus in the popular cartoon program, South Park. While below our American standards of conduct, the Florida church is upset about something far more substantial that simple cartoons, they're protesting the deaths of 3,000 Americans nine years ago. Every day Amercans were doing nothing but showing up to work and were murdered by thugs screaming their praise to Allah as our beloved fellow countrymen were tortured and murdered.

Let's get things straight. We realize there are things people have the right to do that are things they shouldn't do.  The notion of building a Mosque where the dust of incinerated American bodies landed is one such thing. Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin staging a rally at the Lincoln Memorial celebrating the achievements of white America on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "Dream" rally is another. A backwoods yokel church of 50, burning Korans is another. Perspective is every thing. The whole world is getting bent out of shape over 50 stupid bigotted Americans when the cities of Europe can be thrown into upheavel in Islamic neighborhoods doing far worse whenever some radical Muslim gets a hair up his butt.

What's more disturbing is are we approching an environment where to question ANYTHING about Islam will promptly get anyone doing so branded as a bigot or a hater?  This is a good time to examine the life of the historic figure, Mohammed and to read the Koran and speak openly about what's contained within. Let's have a real discussion about what their sacred book says about women, non-believers, and some other issues.

Burning the Koran does not open this discussion; however, it closes it off.

Once again, the moral hypocrisy and cowardice of American culture is clearly on display. We shold be far more worried about how much freedom and intellectual curiosity is being oppressed by the powers of political correctness than what some small time yokels are up to.

A Bad Week for Straightening Out Illegal Immigration

With the Obama administration winning its initial court injunction against the people of Arizona in their attempts to deal with illegal aliens engaged in potential criminal activity to the barrage of over the top demogoguery and dishonest rhetoric directed against responsible efforts to control or report the problem, the last week of July, 2010 has been a difficult setback for those who support the rule of law. The American people have made clear where they stand.

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

This writer is sick and tired of the insanity surrounding illegal aliens in our country. The truth of the matter is tens of thousands of illegal aliens come into America from Mexico every year. Many come in search of jobs. Others are engaged in drug and human smuggling or to set up running guns and resources back to Mexico.

While there are illegal immigrants from elsewhere in the world, none reach the kind of numbers to cause any considerable trouble in this country unless they are here as part of a terrorist organization almost all of which are from radical Islam.

The bottom line is these people who come here not following American immigration law are here illegally. They do not belong here. Desiring the borders be enforced is not “persecution” as many “immigration advocates,” members of the media, and factions in the Democratic Party would suggest. It is not racist to seek action be taken to enforce the law. The illegal aliens are so overwhelming Mexican and the potential terrorists are radical Islamic followers. IT IS NOT RACIST to demand the law is enforced. It surely is possible for responsible law enforcement officers to determine illegal aliens from legitimate Hispanic citizens and visitors. If the United States had a similar problem with Anglo-Canadians or French-Canadians, it would be the same situation. The bottom line is there is almost no illegal entry into the United States from Canada.

This writer strongly supports legal immigration. Our country will continue to grow as people from around the world come to America to join our workforce and make us stronger. Sadly, the current process is cumbersome and lengthy even for those like Filipinos, Africans, and Koreans who seek to come to America to join professions urgently in need of staffing who face long miserable waits to get their entry documents to come here the way they are supposed to.

How many legitimate job seekers are displaced because the positions they would seek are filled with illegal workers? How many of those illegal workers are not being paid legal wages?

It is disgusting to hear illegal aliens’ advocates talk of those law breakers being persecuted. If they are in the United States illegally, they are subject to arrest and legal remedy at any time. To say their civil rights are being violated overlooks a crucial matter of law. Most legal rights are afforded to U.S. citizens.

How frequently is a sickly kind of Orwellian “new speak” used to try to warp public perception of illegal aliens in our country?

The politically correct morons, the folks who’d fall in line with the ACLU, attempt to call legitimate language racist while making up terms like “undocumented workers or residents” to identify people who are breaking the law. There’s a great observation that’s been floating around lately which says, “Calling illegal aliens undocumented workers is the same as calling drug pushers unlicensed pharmacists.” Oh, imagine how the progressive elite chattering class would deal with that observation.

Once again, we expect our politicians to take responsibility and do what they are elected to do. What a slap in the face it is to the people of Arizona for the Federal Government to so miserably fail at protecting their border then take them to court for passing a law that helps the state fill the gap. If all current laws had been routinely enforced, we would not have an immigration problem. The failure is the result of narrow minded self-serving politics – Democrats who see the illegal population as part of a future voting block, and Republicans and some Democrats who don’t want to force employers not to hire illegal workers.

Once again, the priorities are obvious.

1- First, the Federal government must enforce the border. If it requires military action using the National Guard to actively provide front line enforcement, all efforts must be used.

2- Severe and immediate penalties must be imposed on companies that hire illegal workers.

3- Any state or municipality creating sanctuary environments must be prosecuted. No benefits such as in state tuition discounts will be permitted for illegal aliens.

4- A full accounting of all illegal immigrants must be undertaken to indentify and assess all people who are living in the United States illegally. Fair standards for those who have worked here, obeyed the law, and contributed to their community will be provided a means to become “normalized” that does not put those who are seeking entry legally. Those who do not meet the criteria will be returned to their country of origin if appropriate or imprisoned if they have been proven to have committed felonious crimes.

5- The Civil Rights Commission and other appropriate agencies will conduct routine investigations to make sure citizens and those in the country legally are not being harassed or treated unfairly. Those responsible for violating those persons’ rights will be prosecuted.

6- Marijuana must be legalized. The dangers of prohibition far exceed the benefits. Doing so will  eliminate the largest volume illegal commodity from being a contributory issue on the borders creating crime and illegal entry. Laws regarding the sale and taxation of marijuana must be enacted.

7- Responsible international policies must be established working with Mexico so it can develop its economy, defeat the criminal gangs that threaten its residents, and creates mutually beneficial economic relations through fully utilizing the NAFTA treaty.

The foolishness has gone on far too long. The time for action is long overdue.

In Modern Public Education: Best Friends Forever Should Be Best Friends Never

What scares schools most!
x
x
Few things in life are a more god-given gift that that of a close friend, a person who has been there for a lifetime starting in schoolyard days or earlier, a person with whom one shares so many common bonds, great experiences, the good times, and the bad. As a child ventures out from the family unit, among a myriad of contacts in school and other activities, what a wonderful blessing it is to find a special friend and if life situations work out will be there for perhaps an entire life time. A best friend is someone with whom one can share his or her most intimate fears and weaknesses, dreams, schemes, and over time lots and lots of laughter.

Leave it to the ideologues who work in child sociology and psychology to want to interfere with one of life’s most precious gifts. What’s next, they’ll make official what the nanny state and Hollywood seem to suggest, marriage, life’s other big bond outside of the family of birth is not such a good thing?

The New York Times, June 17, 2009, “A Best Friend, You Must Be Kidding,” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/17/fashion/17BFF.html?scp=1&sq=camp%20couselors,%20teachers,%20friends&st=cse reports on efforts of schools and even camp counselors to start keeping tabs on children’s relationships and to separate kids who they deem as being too close. Before we go into any more details, what the hell makes it think that a child’s friends are their business unless the two kids are engaged in destructive behavior?

Among the assumptions these nanny state fascists articulate is a sense that real tight friendships encourage a kind of exclusivity which is contrary to their desire to create a climate of great inclusion. They weasel around what they are doing by arguing their efforts aren’t designed to discourage tight friendships but rather to encourage students to have respect for the dignity of others. This measure idiotic notion is supported by officials from The National Association of Secondary School Principals but also extends to summer camps where the Times reports that in recent years the Timber Lake Camp in Phoenicia, New York employs friendship “coaches” to help all kids become friends with all other campers.

The real essence of the matter is expressed in the following paragraph from the article:

Most children naturally seek close friends. In a survey of nearly 3,000 Americans ages 8 to 24 conducted last year by Harris Interactive, 94 percent said they had at least one close friend. But the classic best-friend bond — the two special pals who share secrets and exploits, who gravitate to each other on the playground and who head out the door together every day after school — signals potential trouble for school officials intent on discouraging anything that hints of exclusivity, in part because of concerns about cliques and bullying.

Anyone who does not live in an ivory tower vacuum knows these concerns are absurd! Tight friendships do not lead to cliques and bullying. They promote loyalty and mutual respect. Cliques are more a result of kids not having positive relationships and developing a followers or a herd mentality exactly what the schools efforts would produce interfering in a child’s relationship.

What’s also implicit in the schools’ intrusive nanny nose poking into manipulating friendships is their continued pursuit to micromanage all aspects of a child’s life. For years, schools have been ostracizing parents and rejecting their input and interest into the affairs of schools with the attitude, “We’re the ones with degrees in education. What do these meddlesome parents know?” How often are schools fighting the exact values often concerning morality and religion that parents attempt to provide at home?

Tight friendships also create another problem for the nanny state fascists. While most kids tend to have at least one really close friend, what about the kids who don’t? In the brave new world of promoted by the intellectual elites, the notion that there could be “have’s” and “have not’s” is unacceptable so just like the same mindset that seems to increasingly hate and tax the rich, it is consistent with that kind of thinking to go after the “have’s.”

Close friends tend to reinforce each other’s values and outlooks thus this is yet another area where schools feel compelled to extend further their control so all kids who complete their public education will be a bunch of compliant politically correct left-wing leaning zombies.

One has to wonder if there’s still some paranoia how school officials missed what the infamous Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were up to leading up to the Columbine mass murder/suicide spree. Punish the healthy friendships for the sake of the possibility of a dangerous duo. If schools pursue such nonsense, they should be careful of possible unintended consequences.

While taken in isolation, many issues of what goes on in public schools today can be minimized and dismissed, taken in their totality and looking at the extent to which curriculum decisions have become grossly politicized as shown recently by the Texas statewide social studies text book madness where the battle focused on the desires of the extreme right versus the extreme left engaged in a death match for which side would prevail while true traditional academics and normal families’ concerns were ignored.

Student achievement continues to deteriorate where proficiency in reading, math and science fails to measure up. Test scores only tell part of the story since it has been common practice that when tests don’t tell the happy story state boards of education desire, they change the tests to something that temporarily boosts up the scores. The history of testing in Maryland shows the issue well. For decades, the Iowa test of basic schools was the statewide standard, in the late 70’s, test results plummeted, thus the California test was adopted. When the California test results wouldn’t work, Maryland attempted to adopt its own tests which have been subject to ridicule and scandal ever since.

It’s long past time that schools butt out of social engineering, from banning kids eating cookies at lunch, to destroying all reference to anything with religious connotations, to now messing around with how kids form friendships. Message to school boards, mind your own business and worry about TEACHING!

Of course the way schools have a long history of caving into the demands of teachers’ unions which have developed a union shop mentality in the school house where teachers are no longer allowed to be thinking professionals but rather job description droids, the structure which facilitates true learning is impossible.

NAACP Forces Hallmark to Withdraw Graduation Cards over "Black Holes"

How stupid and trivial does the NAACP want to make its cause? Hallmark issued a graduation card with audio that has been on the market for three years with no complaints that the Los Angeles NAACP demanded be withdrawn for its racist content that would be offensive and demeaning to black women. The context is clearly within the realm of outer space and the reference is "black holes" the astronomical phenomenon. Nevertheless, intolerance has no limits and the intolerance of identity politics will stop at nothing to stir up a fuss and further extend the insanity of political correctness even further. What next, cleanse the reruns of various Star Trek series that might make mention of "black holes?" Shall we look into the works of Carl Sagan and have his works pulled from libraries?

There is no excuse for this kind of censorship by intimidation. It's time that companies like Hallmark standup to the NAACP and stop falling for their latest intimidation ploy. When the concept of "racism" is so arbitrarily applied, it cheapens the concept and diverts attention from there is real racism such as that shown by our political system which runs public school systems that write off black male students whose achievement continues to lag behind other populations.

Where's the NAACP's outrage about public education? Why don't they take on the teacher's unions?

A little critical thinking just might yield the answer to that. Can we all say, "hidden agenda!" boys and girls. Just as the NAACP doesn't really do much good for real black people neither the NEA nor AFT do much for advancing the credibility of the teaching profession. They are both left-wing advocacy groups whose radical left political agenda and obsession with political correctness reigns supreme.

Nanny State Nonsense at London University

Big Brother and the Nanny State versus enterprising pleasure seeking…

Right-Minded Fellow generally prefers to discuss substantive issues on higher education, but some are a rather interesting reflection on the state of western culture as this posting will be. A British student has been fined by his university for creating a match-making website for love connections between library patrons. There’s nothing particularly novel about his creation given the rise of the on-line social networking phenomenon. How many people don’t subscribe to Facebook as one example?

The site, FitFinder, became an instant sensation spreading from university to university during study time for final exams. Gee, wouldn’t students love the chance to blow off a little steam with a token mindless distraction during that stressful period?

In its first month, 30 universities were involved, but quickly some irate disenchants became quite vocal as some participants posted rather vulgar entries and taunts. University College London, through its office for the dean of pastoral care, a quaint British term for dean of students, fined the site’s founder, Richard Martell a student at the school for “bringing the college into disrepute."

Fearing reprisals that could interfere with his graduation, Martell suspended his site. He paid the 300 pound ($435) fine, the maximum penalty the university could assess. Almost immediately, more than 6,000 individuals signed a petition in support of Mr. Martell.

In addressing his situation, Martell noted, "I pulled it down on my own accord because I wanted to comply with them, but now it has worked against them and has angered people. This has almost brought them more into disrepute than I did in the first place."

While the United Kingdom does not have the guarantees of the First Amendment on freedom of speech and press, some aspects of British culture is every bit as permissive as what can be found in the United States. However, when it comes to a domineering nanny state and insane application of various principles of political correctness, perhaps the Brits are more sickly than the States.

Regardless, the onset of the 21st century finds western culture permeated with narcissism, hedonism, and slick mass media manipulation. A match-making service that gets a little bit tawdry is hardly alarming. Call it distasteful, call it naughty, call it obscene, the actions of the London University seem petty and stoically reactionary. Such moralistic knee-jerk behavior does not serve to hold up the mirror to a decadent society where it seems that instant gratification is the ultimate goal.

This episode so clearly illustrates both polarities of the kind of values and culture that illustrates the deterioration of constructive values. On one level, political correctness, the true realization of what George Orwell described as “newspeak” in his ominous novel, 1984, attempts to destroy the free expression of language limiting all dialogue into narrowly defined boundaries which must conform to the progressive elitists’ standards or be guilty of hate speech, sexism, racism, or some kind of exploitation aimed against their sacred victim groups and ideals. The other polarity is pure unrestrained vulgarity and self-glorification of the “me” generation oriented pop culture.

The fate of FitFinder is but one illustration where two ugly trends in modern culture come into conflict revealing what a completely morally bankrupt and intellectually shallow culture we live in. In terms of the crass opportunism that runs unchecked in the cesspool of a thoroughly decadent culture, Richard Martell’s little creation is but a mild example of other enterprises that push the boundaries of sensibility further and further out of shape.

Think About It...

Calling illegal aliens "undocumented workers" makes as much sense as calling drug dealers "unlicensed pharmacists."

Why Are They So Tolerant of Islamic Intolerance

Unlikely partners -- Franklin Graham and Cartman both subjects of hypersensitivity toward Islam.

Why are the authorities so tolerant of Muslim intolerance?

Traditional American religious tolerance is truly pushed to the brink trying to deal with what many sources supposedly speaking for the Islamic faith demand of our society. Quite simply, Jews and Christians generally don’t much like being made fun of or satirized. Some might denounce being prodded from the pulpit. But as a rule, they never make threats, other than some “fire and brimstone” Christians invoking their critics might be going to hell, but that’s where it ends.

It seems like when something is directed at Muslims, whether satire and cartoons or something more sophisticated like the works of Salman Rushdie, some step forward issuing death threats while the religious command as a whole demands censorship. Remember the flap over the Danish cartoons? They were NOTHING. We routinely see much worse depiction of Jesus.

Well, there are no sacred cows to Trey Parker and Matt Stone the creators of South Park who decided it was time to have a little fun with Moslems, one can only imagine what would happen if they created a Muhammad character like their dim-witted Jesus who hosts a local talk show.

Well, those nasty little fellows would display Mohammad in a bear costume, and for that they must die. A group identifying itself as Revolution Muslim, posted a message that Parker and Stone have insulted Islam with a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker murdered in 2004 for making a movie about a woman who rejected the teachings of Islam. They went on to indicate that the producers of South Park would wind up like Van Gogh. They posted Comedy Central’s address and the California address for Parker’s and Stone’s production company.

Meanwhile, Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham, noted Christian activist has had his invitation revoked for a National Day of Prayer event, the Pentagon’s May 6th service, due to complaints about Graham’s comments about Islam including their vicious treatment of women indicating that Islam can be “a very violent religion.”

Nothing makes the powers that be in government, media, and industry falling like dominos than any suggestions from Islamic figures that they are upset about something. We see so much effort to go way out of the way to avoid anything that might upset Islamic sensitivities where conversely Christians and Jews be damned as we see every fall when edicts are issued pushing such things as Christmas decorations out of public buildings or other venues.

Americans have the freedom to choose to surrender their freedom to be, ones who submit, as the term Muslim means, and practice the Islamic faith. The Constitution guarantees the free expression thereof. Likewise, the first amendment allows us to criticize and comment on all religions as we see fit.

There’s something fundamentally rotten in the world of Islam. Why should we be so tolerant of conduct that is so explicitly intolerant?

Towson Professor Fired for "N" Word Evokes Broader Discussion of Racial Issues

Allen Zaruba, an adjunct faculty member teaching art at Towson University was fired for saying the magic word that most certainly leads to prompt dismissal regardless of intent or context in America, the “N” word. News of this professor’s poor judgment travelled rapidly across the country to where it was reported in the Huffington Post, the Chronicle of Higher Education, the Washington Post, and countless blogs across the country and even in Canada.

Source article: Towerlight, Towson University’s official campus newspaper: http://www.thetowerlight.com/adjunct-faculty-member-fired-following-racial-slur-1.2174910

Heck we’re an anonymous blog, and we don’t use the “N” word, but if it ever comes to a point where for the sake of absolute truthfulness in a posting – we can’t rule it out. Still, even the “F” word has become acceptable in many instances and substituting for it while clearly wanting to give the listener or reader the message that “F” is the intended word. How often do we read “what the fuck?” Well fuck, why are we so much more easily upset by “N”?

First, let’s look at the Towson situation. According to Towerlight, the Towson University newspaper, Allen Zaruba referred to himself as “a nigger on the corporate plantation.” Yes, Towerlight, did publish the article with the “N” bomb spelled out at least on line as of 11:00 pm March 2.

In the lesson, Zaruba was reviewing “Themes of Contemporary Art” to his Visual Concepts class. The text, authored by Jean Robertson and Craig McDaniel, the professor was said to identify as “very politically incorrect.” During his discussion of a chapter about identity and the body, he spoke his fatal remark.

Reports indicate Zaruba, a twelve year veteran at the university, was quite a provocative speaker known for his “in your face delivery” but at least one student attending the class said the remark was not used with malicious intent.

The “N” word controversy is understandable but likewise the pinnacle of polite society’s hypocrisy and denial on racial issues.

When we’re little children, we were once taught, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” Ah, that was before the days of the uptight politically correct, easily offended litigious society. Furthermore, that’s easy for a middle-aged white American male to say having never been on the hated end of the “N” word.

In some contexts, we are taught that a white person quite simply can never use the word, period. It is never acceptable even when framed in all the proper contexts. Yet in many circles, we are supposed to tolerate it when one African-American calls another black person the detested word. “N” has several different meanings rich with nuance among the black community particularly among the street culture.

While the first amendment would indicate otherwise, the use of the word, nigger, has all but been outlawed in the United States when spoken by someone who is not a “person of color.” Anyone doubting this contention can surely test this thesis by screaming the taboo word at his place of employment or in any public gathering and see how quickly the sparks fly.

Now for the hard part, has the all but total ban on the majority population of which some members once enslaved the minority population from using the “N” word eliminate racism in our country? Are some of the social atrocities that are disproportionately far more prevalent in African-American communities made any better by banning the “N” word? As of March 2, 2010, there have been 24 homicides in Baltimore City, every single homicide victim is a black male. Does the fact that the white people in the suburbs insist none of them would ever use the “N” word make the situation just a few miles from their homes across the city line for these members of their community. Does the prohibition of using the “N” word lead the majority culture to help create a meaningful pathway for all members of society to become productive citizens by doing what’s necessary to close down failing schools mostly in African American communities, engage those children with effective programs that promote learning and success not continued failure?

The hypocrisy and self-righteousness shown by so many folks in today’s world regarding the “N” word does nothing to make the world a better place for some of our least fortunate citizens but surely instigates all kinds of bad faith and self-deception about the real issues that our society refuses to deal with.

Racism is fucking ugly. There’s no nice way to say it. If we never hear the second syllables of renege and swinger patched together as one word, the ugliness will still be with us.

Racism will be solved when we live in a truly post-racial world and if anyone reading this thinks the election of Barack Obama puts us one step closer to that reality, forget it. If nothing else, the Obama election has provided more excuses for all kinds of denial and false assumptions. The whole concept of white guilt just went away because so many white citizens voted for Obama for President? Hardly!

When our culture gets to the point where skin color is dealt with much the same way we react to people of different hair colors or physical height, we could finally say racism is eliminated. The problem is far more than skin color differences propel racism. There are all kinds of social and cultural factors no one wants to come to terms with solving. How many problems that appear racial on the surface are truly more socio-economic at heart?

There can be no question that many programs of the Great Society, massive government entitlements and quotas, and the notion of affirmative action have not truly balanced out the effects of the underlying social problems that won’t go away as they become a form of the exact thing they’re supposed to eliminate – favor based on race.

The United States needs to be an opportunity based society which uses its many resources and tremendous constitutional values to make it possible for all citizens to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The root causes of urban violence often so dependent on the drug culture must be eliminated. One solution would be legalizing marijuana, and treating those addicted to hard drugs from an educational and medical standpoint not a criminal enforcement standpoint. There can be no more failing schools. Vouchers, charter schools, and other creative solutions must be employed to help kids get the education they deserve. Furthermore, while many of these children enter the school system with many disadvantages suburban white kids will never know, schools must stop blaming disadvantaged kids’ parents and their communities for their failure in school. The school system must develop the proper teaching methods and learn how to engage these kids so they will master reading, math, and other skill areas necessary to succeed in the world at large while instilling the proper values and work ethic to become productive participants in society where they will be equipped to take advantage of the opportunities our society can offer.

These are some of our ideas. Clearly, it’s not something that’s straightforward where gosh if the government would just spend enough money, the problem is all gone. The solution will require much discussion, debate, and finally consensus. Everyone will need to be involved in some measure. We are all brothers and neighbors. We cannot just assuming paying taxes absolves us of our personal responsibilities. Ideally more money will come out of our pockets, our charities, and our businesses not the government coffers. It can be done, but tough challenges are never easy.

We will lend our voice to the chorus, please do not ever use the “N” word. Know that doing so can subject your reputation to damage you might never be able to erase. It is a bad word. It symbolizes horrible things. It reminds us of things we try not to think about. It reminds us all is not right in the world. It makes us tingle and defensive.

In the meantime, say a prayer for Allen Zaruba. Regardless of what his heart is or where he stands on issues, that he used the “N” word while teaching a college class at a state university will be something from which he will never escape.

The ultimate solution for racial problems in America has far more to do with us opening our eyes and our hearts and a lot less with shutting our mouths.

Those Darn Commercials: Enough of the Allstate Guy

Television advertisements certainly are designed to influence what we think about companies, but the reverse consideration is perhaps more interesting, how a company pitches to the public tells a lot about what the company thinks about us. They think we're pretty dumb, don't they?

Think of the television ads you’ve seen recently. How do they attempt to reach you? What is their message?

1- Do the ads attempt to humor or entertain you?

2- Are they informative or deceiving and misleading?

3- Do they talk down to you or insult your intelligence?

4- What kind of view of society do they provide with the characters who they portray in their commercials? Are they patronizing? What kind of stereotypes do they create?

5- To what extent do they pander to obscene political correctness?

6- How many are just plain stupid?

January is a big television month starting with the college bowls then the NFL playoffs. The bigger the event, the more conspicuous and time consuming the ads appear to be.

Right Minded Fellow gives Allstate Insurance with the pompous holier than thou black pitchman as having the most offensive ads on television. The combination of message and messenger with obvious political overtones written as the perfect template for political correctness makes their ads the most obnoxious ads of all. Who do they think they are trying to lecture us on how we should live our lives, what are values should be, and then try to rip us off for auto insurance spoken by a pitchman who is so over-the-top in playing up the all-knowing authority figure is beyond contempt. There’s also a sickly manipulation of racial perceptions that is even more offensive.

How would this writer love to see their pitchman starting to deliver his sermon then get whacked upside the head with a big club swung by one of the GEICO cavemen and then get scolded by that idiot (talk about bad stereotypes) cashier from the Progressive insurance ads.

Okay, this blog is a little off our regular course, but after a month of seeing these ads, it was time to say something. Somehow even the late great Billy Mays couldn’t illicit such passion.

No Time for Soft Talk: Terrorism Threat More Real Than Ever While Administration is in Denial

America has no grounds for relief in wake of Christmas Day terrorist attempt, an event where nothing, short of some amazing good luck, went right.
x
Three weeks ago, Christmas Day, the United States sustained a terrorist attack when Umar Farouk Abdulmultallab attempted to detonate a bomb stuffed in his underwear as a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit flying over Michigan skies was attempting to land. Everything Al Qaeda planned was successful. The terrorist paid cash for his ticket, had no check in luggage, booked a one way flight, and chose his seat above the wing right wear the plane’s main fuel supply is located. Every part of the terrorists’ scheme worked to perfection. He was in the process of igniting the bomb, but there was no explosion. Instead he caught himself on fire upon which flight attendants and brave passengers sprung into action to detain this murderer. Thus the plane landed safely at Detroit’s International Airport, and aside from some burns and bruises, no one was hurt.

To attempt to spin this story that anything heroic or strategic worked to thwart this terrorist attack is pure fantasy. Had the device worked as intended, an air liner with a couple hundred people would have been destroyed with every passenger obliterated. One can only imagine the damage that might have resulted somewhere over Detroit or its suburbs.

What prevented this loss of life?

Call it what you will, God’s blessing or just good luck.

Nothing procedures to prevent terrorist activity worked. Everything went according to plan for the terrorist except the bomb did not blow up.

What is being lost in the coverage is, had the bomb detonated the United States would have sustained its second worst terror attack since September 11, 2001.

Absolutely nothing to prevent this attack worked or was even employed. For starters, Abdulmultallab’s father a wealthy banker and one of Nigeria’s most prominent citizens reported his son’s behavior to the United States State Department. What happened with that information and where did it go?

Abdulmultallab was already on a watch list though had not been put on the no fly list.

Indications were readily available this was not the kind of person who should be on a transcontinental flight to the United States. Call it profiling or common sense, he should not have been on that airliner.

Quickly, reports spread that Abdulmultallab attended terrorist training in Yemen, one of the world’s hotbeds of terrorist activity, not only that, he had connections with Anwar al-Awlaki. Al-Awlaki is a major Iman engaged in propagandizing the terrorists’ movement who Fort Hood terrorist/murder, the psychotic psychologist Major Nidal Hasan who on November 5, 2009, murdered twelve whiling screaming radical Islamic rants. There were also plenty of concerns about Hasan’s activity that would suggest that if not identified as a potential terrorist, he certainly had no place in the United States military and his connections with radical Islam screamed for investigation.

Folks, this is no conspiracy theory, this is what’s going on. Radical Islam in on the march looking for every opportunity to kill Americans, Western Europeans, Christians, Jews, Hindus, and fellow Muslims who don’t believe their doctrine of hatred.

Is the picture becoming clearer?

In two consecutive months, November and December, two significant terrorist episodes exploded both sharing a connection to Yemen, both terrorists in contact with Anwar al-Awlaki, both terrorists had quite a track record demanding immediate attention but officials somehow managed to overlook.

In establishing responsibility for the oversight, no single person can be singled out in either case. There were multiple failures. The Obama administration describes it as “systemic” indicating the system failed. Okay, the system failed, but who is responsible for running the system?

Ultimately, three people must be held accountable as possible places where the buck clearly stops. Start with Homeland Security Chief, Janet Napolitano and Attorney General, Eric Holder.

Janet Napolitano immediately changed the nation’s focus on terrorism when she made every effort to wipe the slate clean and cover it with a sugar coating of political correctness speaking of man-caused disasters and overseas contingency operations rather than terror attacks and war on terror. Her initial response to the Detroit airliner attack was to proclaim “the system worked.”

Was this statement made out of ignorance or some feeble attempt to spin an obvious disaster into something else? Either way, she’s either a fool or a liar. What’s more disturbing is no matter what she has said since her initial statement, our top official in the fight against terrorism which she loathes to call terrorism simply doesn’t have the guts for the job or the strategic intelligence.

Eric Holder, of course, has set the tone that terrorism is a criminal matter and that police actions and civilian courts are the proper way to address the problem. Foreign agents seeking to destroy our way of life are accorded the rights and privileges of American citizens. If Sheik Mohammed would be liberated from Guantanamo Bay to stand trial in civilian court in New York City, it should be no surprise that Abdulmultallab is being treated as a criminal not an enemy combatant. He will likewise face criminal charges where there has already been talk of plea-bargaining, information in exchange for lesser charges. The son-of-a-bitch should face a life in prison and nothing less.

Finally, the responsibility falls on Barack Obama who was relaxing in Hawaii keeping his distance as the Detroit disaster and its aftermath unfolded. It is not our expectation that Presidents cannot travel to nice places for vacation, but when a national emergency occurs, the President must step up, assume command, and become fully involved. We saw an incredible disconnect, a lack of sensitivity, and a total lack of urgency in his conduct. One need look no further than how President George W. Bush responded to Hurricane Katrina to see how the public reacts when the President appears detached and not properly fired up about a major disaster.

Finally, yesterday, January 7, the President attempted to have proper agencies accept responsibility for the Christmas day botched bombing. We got no impression that anyone is being held more accountable or that the President clearly sees the gravity of the situation. While the embargo on the term terrorism seems to be have lifted, can anyone believe that Barack Obama sees the war on terror as job one, that every effort is being made around the clock every day of the year to ensure our safety?

The radical left does not accept the notion of Radical Islam, that they are an evil, blood thirsty ideology hell bent on genocide against our way of life. The left looks as our system and our economic interests worldwide as the source of the problem – that the United States as the leader of the western world creates conditions so intolerable Radical Islam is the natural consequence of the oppressed people rising up as a result of their conditions. When we look at the profile of those recruited into terrorist activities, we do not often find the down and out of the Islamic world. In this discussion, we’ve spoken of the son of one of Nigeria’s wealthiest and most powerful citizens. The Fort Hood killer was an American educated Doctor employed by our Armed Services.

A nation cannot defeat an enemy it does not understand. Clearly, the Obama administration shows a horrible lack of understanding of the roots of terrorism, its development, and most importantly its operations underway right now with bombs loaded and guns aimed awaiting orders to kill every last one of us who stand in their way.

Obama Surrenders Terrorists Prosecution to ACLU Extremism

More concern shown this thug than the thousands he plot to kill.
Just how bad can it get?

If anyone who truly understands American history, the Constitution, and just good old common sense doesn’t realize Barack Obama is the most dangerous President the United States has ever elected, his decision to have Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks tried in civilian court in New York City, a court room in the shadows of where the World Trade Center towers once stood, is a dreadful capitulation putting politics and political correctness ahead of justice.

At the heart of the matter is failure to recognize the profound difference between how justice operates in civilian society versus a state of war up against enemy combatants. The Constitution is designed to protect the rights of American citizens not enemies sworn to destroy us.

The rules of evidence, the protection and presumption of innocence, and many other legal safeguards take on different character when functioning under the rules of warfare.

Given the financial resources available, Sheik Mohammed will be able to hire legal defense that will have the means to make the terrorist leaders’ trial a media showcase where our society will be put on trial for all the conventional grievances radicals who hate us trump up when given the opportunity and the victims themselves will be taunted and insulted. The Islamic terrorist movement will seize every opportunity to use the trial in the worldwide media particularly in the Islamic world to create stark images of “the great Satan” through Al Jazeera. The radical left and its apologists in the more extreme elements of the conventional media will likewise use the trial to push an ACLU agenda making the victims of 9/11 the criminals and the terrorists victims of the American system.

The stress put on the prosecutors, those charged with securing the court facility, 9/11 survivors, victims’ families, servicemen who’ve fought in the war on terror, and stake holders in the American justice system functioning as it should and not being politicized to fulfill a warped left wing agenda will be enormous. Anything short of the death penalty for Sheik Mohammed will be unacceptable, but given the kind of spectacle his supporters will be able to make of his trial, the ability to make him a martyr to the most impressionable followers of Islam will be absolutely out of bounds.

Regardless of what tough rhetoric President Obama uses to try to denounce Sheik Mohammed’s treachery, he has done the world of radical Islam the greatest favor imaginable except from setting this terrorist free without trial. The specter of some technicality turning loose these enemies to a civilized world is a real possibility that would further attack the very foundation of American security and justice.

All peace loving Americans who believe in the rule of law and the security of our homeland must condemn President Obama and do everything possible to discredit this radical administration rendering them as ineffective as possible to execute the awesome powers of the Presidency.

Nothing is more painful than hearing a 9/11 widow express her shock, hurt, and anger over Obama’s disgraceful and anti-American decision. It’s for people like her we find the power to sustain our motivation to show the Obama administration for what it is, a radical, anti-American, corrupt and incompetent regime that is not looking out for our best interests on virtually all levels of Presidential power.

The United Nations at Work -- You Got to be Kidding!!!

While human rights are routinely violated around the world at the hands of ruthless dictators and Islamic regimes whose Sharia justifies the gross oppression of women and even defends honor killings, millions die of disease in Africa, hunger and starvation kill children in Asia and Africa, and human rights abuse is just a part of life in countries like communist China, the United Nations seeks to investigate housing conditions in NEW YORK CITY!!!

Remember our taxes finance this nonsense.
