Here's a remarkably frank assessment on CNN's fall. Given this would seem to be from an "insiders" point of view, this is a very good look at how the network that dramatically broke new ground upon its founding at the dawn of the cable TV age is old news today.

We'd like to see a healthy CNN and Fox News. Competition is a good thing and Fox needs some strong competition to keep it on its toes and to challenge its excesses. CNN has lost not only because its news presentation is unimaginative and stodgy but its programming lacks the punch of its early days. It's also interesting to note that MSNBC was not mentioned once in this article. That pretty much speaks for itself. For an organization to have become such an ideological suicide bomb built on the backbone of the once great NBC news organization deserves little recognition just scorn.
xWe'd encourage CNN to try someting very fresh and new in their 5:00 pm block. Foks are going to tire of Glenn Beck unless there are enough people who need to hear the same apocalyptic message again and again always overpromising and underdeliverying. We'd suggest not programming the anti-Beck or the Better than Beck Beck, but see if there are some innovative minds who can develop a fresh, lively, young program that doesn't frazzle a person's nerves after a long day at work.
