College Football Fun: Week 7: What a Long Strange Trip It's Been

At the end of August, the chatter seemed to be would USC and Georgia would be the likely matchup for the National Championship but alas, both teams have sustained a significant loss that has pushed them back and depending on what the teams above them do in the remaining weeks, could have knocked them out of the championship hunt. A few battles this weekend could help make the January picture clearer, but to say any one team is the clear favorite right now would be premature. One of our games this week, #5 Texas versus #1 Oklahoma could help clarify things. If Oklahoma pulls a convincing victory over Texas, that could solidify their #1 standing. Misssouri at #3 faces a top 20 rival in Oklahoma State #17.

So here are our bold picks this week. Here goes:

There's no reason to believe Oklahoma#1 shouldn't beat Texas #5. Go with Oklahoma. The Sooners have BCS Bowl winner in their reach.

Tennessee plays #10 Georgia at Georgia. While we expect Tennessee is a strong candidate to pull a major upset, it won't be this week in enemy territory. This one's Georgia's all the way.

Touchdown Jesus stays home in South Bend while the Fighting Irish visit Chapel Hill to battle the North Carolina #22 Tar Heels. The Mackeral Snappers from Notre Dame will not go home from Carolina with a win. It's North Carolina all the way.

Here's our upset efor the week, Oklahoma State #17 could pull off the deed and beat media daring, Missouri #3. If Missouri wins big, talk off them as champs will get loudere.

Finally #4 LSU visits #11 Florida. This game will be an old fashion brawl. Despite being a little banged up, this one's Florida's.
