Colllege Pigskins as October Begins

Oh yeah!!! One more reason Oregon should be scared, the mighty USC cheerleaders.

Has everyone survived the weekend of upsets? The mighty USC sure took the hit in the rankings. Meanwhile, the Maryland Terps, our home boys, soldier on.

Here's our games for this week. Base your bets on these at your own risk!!!

First, Maryland visits its closest rival, Virginia, favored by 13 1/2. They should take care of business and the point spread too.

We'll follow two Top 25 showdowns. #13 Auburn is favored by 4 points at #19, Vanderbilt. We'll pick the upset and give this to "Vandy." Meanwhile, #23 Oregon has the privilege of facing an angry #9 USC back home and steaming over their loss at Oregon State. I wouldn't want to get anywhere near the L.A. Coliseum for that one. USC will slaughter Oregon.

In years past, the big game on this slate would have to be Florida State visiting Miami (-2 1/2). Neither team is close to being ranked nationally nor is either one positioned to lead its division in the ACC. Still this is one of the biggest rivalries in the South East outside the SEC. Miami should have enough gas to ignite Florida State.

Focusing on a Big Ten rivalry, we'll pick Michigan favored by 2 1/'2 hosting Illinois to take care of business.

Our final game is between two of the military academies with Navy travelling to Colorado to battle Air Force (- 5). Anchors away, Navy will pull the upset.
